World Book Day

World Book Day 2010 - 4th March 2010

World Book Day UK began in 1998, launched by then Prime Minster Tony Blair at The Globe Theatre in London. Several million schoolchildren in Great Britain were given a £1 special World Book Day Book Token which could be redeemed against any book in any UK bookseller. The aim was to encourage children and adults alike to read and get enjoyment from books.

On World Book Day each year children of all ages are encouraged to participate by dressing up as their favourite storybook character - to help bring books and stories to life. This helps ignite their imaginations and takes them on a voyage of discovery to exciting new worlds.
